Overcoming complex engineering challenges

While USG’s original prototype was a vital demonstration of the product’s potential, its architecture and toolchain were never intended to support long-term scalability and performance. The transition from concept to reality required rethinking several critical technical dimensions:

  • Architectural evolution: The prototype’s Revit-dependent structure limited flexibility and scalability. Pelogic led a full architectural renovation, building an independent geometry engine and modular infrastructure to support ongoing innovation.
  • Geometry & layout logic: Initial approaches to ceiling layout logic relied on tightly coupled Revit behaviors. Pelogic introduced a custom engine capable of handling complex layout scenarios, delivering more resilient, accurate, and scalable performance.
  • Operational agility: Updating the tool previously required full redeployments. By introducing modular configuration and a modern API layer, we implemented USG’s vision of non-technical teams able to manage data, rules, and layouts with minimal developer involvement.
  • Performance at scale: The new platform was optimized to handle large, complex BIM environments minimizing lag and failures—meeting the real-world demands of architecture and construction professionals.
